Gravimetric Feeder for Accurate Material Dosing
A gravimetric loss-in-weight feeder controls the feeding rate by continuously measuring material weight reduction during operation. Compared with volumetric feeding, it provides more accurate dosing and helps maintain stable formulation ratios.
In twin-screw compounding lines, gravimetric feeders are used for base materials, additives, fillers, pigments, and masterbatch. The feeder type is selected according to the material form and feeding requirement.
Single-screw loss-in-weight feeders are generally suitable for granules and free-flowing materials. Twin-screw loss-in-weight feeders are commonly used for powders and additives that require more stable conveying.
The feeding system can be synchronized with the main extruder, so feeding starts and stops together with the extrusion line. Multi-component feeding systems can also be configured when several additives need to be dosed independently.
