Water Ring Die Face Hot Cutting Pelletizing Line

Compact Pelletizing for Masterbatch and Modified Compounds

The water ring die face hot cutting pelletizing line is selected according to material behavior, formulation characteristics, and pelletizing requirements. It is commonly used for materials suitable for die face hot cutting with water ring cooling, especially in masterbatch, filler modification, color masterbatch, flame-retardant compound, TPU, TPR, and biodegradable compound production.

This system offers a compact layout and stable pelletizing performance. Compared with a traditional cooling strand pelletizing line, the water ring system requires less floor space while producing pellets with good uniformity, smooth surface quality, and strong flowability.

For manufacturers looking for an efficient pelletizing method for medium to high-output compounding lines, the water ring system provides a good balance between material compatibility, pellet quality, and production efficiency.

How the System Works

After the polymer melt is compounded and homogenized inside the twin screw extruder, it is pushed through the die head. The material is cut directly at the die face by rotating knives.

The freshly cut pellets are immediately cooled and carried by the circulating water ring. After cooling, the pellet-water mixture enters the dewatering system, where most of the surface water is removed. The pellets are then transferred to the vibrating classifier for screening and final collection.

This process is suitable for materials that can be cut directly at the die face and cooled efficiently through the water ring system.

Main Components

The water ring die face hot cutting pelletizing line typically includes:

  • Die head
  • Water ring pelletizer
  • Cutting system
  • Water circulation system
  • Centrifugal dewaterer
  • Vibrating classifier
  • Product collection system

Suitable Materials and Applications

This system is commonly used for:

  • Filler masterbatch: PE / EVA + CaCO3, talc, TiO2, carbon black, etc.
  • PE / PP / PS filler masterbatches
  • PE / ABS / PS / EVA color masterbatches
  • ABS / EVA flame-retardant masterbatches
  • TPR / TPU compounds
  • Biodegradable masterbatches
  • Selected PE, PS, EVA, and TPU formulations requiring good pellet uniformity and flowability

Key Advantages

  • Compact production layout
  • Stable die face hot cutting process
  • Good pellet uniformity and flowability
  • Suitable for many masterbatch and modified compound formulations
  • Shorter downstream layout compared with strand pelletizing
  • Continuous operation for commercial production
